What's Happenin'

June is such a busy month for our family and I should have been blogging all along, but I didn't and now I have so much to catch up on!
With three birthdays (Chris', Kent's and Ethan's), Father's Day, and our anniversary, we had lots of family get togethers and picture taking opportunities.
On June 16th Kent and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. We stayed at Nanette and Chris' house after Chris' birthday party on the 15th and spent the morning of our anniversary playing with Ethan and Logan and being lazy. Nanette made us "beanie weanies" for lunch that were delicious. (At least I thought so. Kent could do with only having them once a year.) Then we went to the hospital to visit our niece Stephanie and her husband Josh and their new baby Parker who had been born the day before on Chris' birthday. (People share a lot of birthdays in our extended family!) Parker is such a cutie and fun to hold and we are so happy for Steph and Josh. Then it was on to the Ogden Temple, the place where we'd been married for eternity 25 years earlier. Afterward we went to the front of the temple because I wanted to have our picture taken. There happened to be a couple there and we asked them to take our picture. Surprisingly they were celebrating their first anniversary of being married in the Ogden Temple. I wanted to say to them, "This could be you in 24 more years with 6 children and 3 grandsons." Next we went to the Maddox restaurant to eat. I was so excited because they had rainbow trout!
Kent had fried chicken:
We found out the next day that I left my temple recommend at Maddox. It fell out of my purse when I pulled my camera out. Maddox called our bishop who called us. Our awesome kids gave us a getaway package to Park City for our anniversary. We just need to find the time to go now!

My beautiful anniversary flowers.

This is what Dane's countdown board looked like on June 16th. He's scheduled to come home in less than 4 months!
Katie and Braiden.
I made Braiden and Aaron matching neckties.

I was sick on Kent's 49th birthday and I feel bad that I wasn't able to make his day special. Thank goodness Katie and Naomi were here to shop for me, wrap the presents, bake and decorate the cake and play "Lost" with Kent, Nick and Caleb. Katie documented the Father's Day barbecue and Kent's birthday on her blog.
Saturday was Ethan's 3rd birthday. He was so excited for it to finally be his birthday. It was a hot day at the splash park but a lot of fun. Katie made a "Thomas the Tank Engine" cake.

We gave Ethan a bike and helmet.
I wasn't sure how he'd like the helmet, but he liked it so much that he insisted on wearing it to Village Inn when we went for dinner. Here's a picture of Aaron modeling the helmet:

Ethan had had enough pictures taken for the day.

Well, that's my novel for June. Hopefully I'm better at posting in July so I won't have blogger's remorse!

Video Funk

I've been in bed sick this past week and have also been in kind of a funk. It didn't help that Friday was the third anniversary of my Mom's death. I wonder when that will get easier; not necessarily the actual day she died, but the missing her and the memories of her death.
To cheer myself up,
here are some videos and pictures from my camera.

Katie, Aaron & Braiden after Braiden's blessing.

Braiden in the outfit I sewed for him.
He was wide awake and quiet while he was being blessed!

I know Nanette posted this video on her blog,
but I can't get enough of it, and after all,
it was taken by me on my camera so it bears repeating.

We got caught in a hailstorm on the way home from the blessing in Tremonton and had to pull over and wait it out. The sound of the hail was so deafening we couldn't talk to each other while it was going on.

LOST

Kent and I are addicted to LOST. I bought season 1 on DVD on Ebay to see if we would like it and now we're hooked. We lost a lot of sleep watching "just one more episode" late at night. We finished season 1 and a few days later I bought season 2 on Ebay. It is taking forever to come! For 3 days now the post office tracking says it arrived in Denver. How long does it take to get here from Denver? In the meantime, I discovered you can watch full episodes on Abc.com, but you have to watch very annoying commercials for other shows that I'm not interested in. At least it's a temporary fix though. We got Katie and Aaron hooked on the show too. It's funny that I even like it because sometimes it's pretty intense which is not usually my kind of show. Anyone else like LOST?

Also lost: my camera.
Last seen: Kent took it away from Logan Wednesday night while Nanette, Naomi and I were at Enrichment Meeting and can't remember where he set it.

Rainy Day and Hairdos

Ethan and Logan are at our house today because Chris is in 'Bama and Nanette has school. Kent and I decided to walk to the park with them after dinner. Kent pulled them in the wagon. We were there for half an hour when Naomi showed up on her bike after work. It started thundering so Kent hopped on Naomi's bike (I wish I'd gotten a picture) and rode home to get the van. He got back just in time before it started raining. The storm turned into a real downpour that included hail. I worried about my garden but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to check it. Nick and Caleb were up the canyon for mutual and came home soaked but happy from playing in the rain. Kent was happy to turn the sprinklers off.

Bad Habit Kicked?

So, I'm no hand model, but I'm pretty proud of this picture. I have been a nail biter probably since I've had teeth, which means more than 42 years. I've tried many things over the years but nothing has stuck for more than a week. It's now been about 3 weeks since I decided to mentally kick the habit. Mind over mouth. Now I need to work on mind over mouth to think before I speak. I'm sure Naomi would agree when it has to do with her boyfriend. Right Naomi?
