Truth in Advertising

Last Saturday we attended my nephew's wedding in the Manti Temple. Afterwards we attended the wedding dinner at a local restaurant. This was the sign out front:

I thought it was a joke until I talked to the owner who said the servers had had so many complaints the night before that she put the sign out to encourage them to do better. It must have worked because the food and service were great!

Ode To An Appliance

Oh beautiful cube of metal so white,
You fill my life with joy and delight.
My dishpan hands are so thankful to you,
I'm tired of scrubbing that baked, caked on goo.
Our garbage can no longer is filled to the top,
With paper and plastic products; so costly to shop.
Oh dishwasher, my dishwasher,
I'll take you for granted no more.
Oh dishwasher, My dishwasher,
Here's to scrubbin' galore.

Okay, that was dumb rhyming, but I'm so excited to have a dishwasher again! What "luxury" appliance would you miss the most?

That Explains It!

Every time I hear the dirty word "exercise",
I wash my mouth out with chocolate.

It's a Good Thing, Utah!

Kent, Katie and I were at a taping of "Good Things Utah" last week. It was a lot of fun and we got a few goodies like always. I answered a trivia question about "Dancing With the Stars" during a commercial break and won this CD:

Kent liked the smell and the look of the enchilada recipe they cooked that day and hopefully I'll be able to cook it this week. Last week it didn't sound too good to me when I had the stomach flu.

Kent was a good sport about being the only man in the audience and donated his bag of scrapbook stuff to Nanette.
I plan on going back on my birthday in two weeks. Anyone want to go with me? I need to know soon so I can get tickets.

Open House

We had a really fun and special experience today. We had the opportunity to attend the Draper Temple open house. I'm thankful that Chris thought to get tickets or I'm sure we wouldn't have made it. The weather tried to hamper us: we woke up to 6 inches of snow and it was still snowing. We made it in time though and just like everything the Church does it was well organized and we parked at a church down below the temple. After watching a 12 minute video on temples and the history of Draper, we climbed aboard a tourist bus to be shuttled up to the temple. It was Ethan's first bus ride (& Logan's) and he was so excited. I think one thing that excited him was no car seat!

After a tour through the beautiful rooms of the temple where it seemed dozens of smiling ushers pointed the way, we ended up at the church that is on the temple property. There they had little bottles of water and cookies and beautiful pictures of the Savior and of temples around the world. We headed back to the first church via the bus again and Ethan was in heaven. While in Chuckarama eating lunch the weather got nastier and our ride home was even more challenging than the ride there. It was worth it though! Here are more pictures from the bus:

Notes: 1.The baby in my arms is Chris' sister's baby that Nanette is tending twice a week. (I'm a baby magnet and I love it! He's a cutie!) 2.It was Caleb's first day of the new trimester and Aaron had to work so they weren't with us. 3. We learned that the Draper Temple has a sealing room that holds 75 people and were told that is the largest of any temple! That surprised me. 4. We're looking forward to attending the dedication of this temple via satellite in our chapel on March 22nd.

Cricuting

I had fun with my Cricut machine yesterday. I've been wanting to cut out one of my favorite sayings for my living room. I used brown vinyl that is made for the Cricut. (By the way, the saying originally said "Go to Zion" but I changed it to toward so it looked better on the wall. Should it be towards? I can't figure it out.) I found out that I am not much of a perfectionist when it comes to things like this. I hung the letters up without measuring or even having another pair of eyes to help. So, they're not perfect, but I decided that was okay. I also cut out the letters for another saying for my red wall in the kitchen. That will be much trickier to hang up over the stairs. Hopefully a picture will be coming soon to a blog near you.

Doggin' It

This last week, although we don't have a dog anymore, we had two dogs at our house. Katie and Aaron's dog Wesson and Nanette and Chris' new dog Max were here at the same time. Being males, they haven't become best friends yet, but hopefully after Max recovers from the vet tomorrow they'll be friendlier. They are sure friendly with their owners though.

I keep track of a few people (some strangers) via "Carepages", a website set up through hospitals for families to keep others updated on their loved ones health. You can search for others who have the same disease as yourself or own loved one and that's how I came in contact with a few of these "strangers" that have become friends. One woman's father has prostate cancer like my Dad had and lately she has mentioned a family whose 25 year old son is dying. I looked up his Carepage and his mother commented that we need to all act more like dogs. When family and friends come in our door we need to do more wagging and less barking. We need to let others know by our actions how much we love and appreciate them. Saying I love you isn't enough. We never know when tragedy will strike. So I'm committing to do more wagging and less barking!
