Open House

We had a really fun and special experience today. We had the opportunity to attend the Draper Temple open house. I'm thankful that Chris thought to get tickets or I'm sure we wouldn't have made it. The weather tried to hamper us: we woke up to 6 inches of snow and it was still snowing. We made it in time though and just like everything the Church does it was well organized and we parked at a church down below the temple. After watching a 12 minute video on temples and the history of Draper, we climbed aboard a tourist bus to be shuttled up to the temple. It was Ethan's first bus ride (& Logan's) and he was so excited. I think one thing that excited him was no car seat!

After a tour through the beautiful rooms of the temple where it seemed dozens of smiling ushers pointed the way, we ended up at the church that is on the temple property. There they had little bottles of water and cookies and beautiful pictures of the Savior and of temples around the world. We headed back to the first church via the bus again and Ethan was in heaven. While in Chuckarama eating lunch the weather got nastier and our ride home was even more challenging than the ride there. It was worth it though! Here are more pictures from the bus:

Notes: 1.The baby in my arms is Chris' sister's baby that Nanette is tending twice a week. (I'm a baby magnet and I love it! He's a cutie!) 2.It was Caleb's first day of the new trimester and Aaron had to work so they weren't with us. 3. We learned that the Draper Temple has a sealing room that holds 75 people and were told that is the largest of any temple! That surprised me. 4. We're looking forward to attending the dedication of this temple via satellite in our chapel on March 22nd.
